Sure anyone can have a bad day, but most of us recognize a fit of passion or anger for what it is. But a true troll diary speaks for itself and it would be nice to get to them right away.

It wouldn't necessarily ban them, but it would discourage them and relegate them to the comments to do their mischief. Also, it deprives others from using "A diary on the Daily Kos" as a reference for "those crazy left wingers".

Can post them themselves and simply take a screenshot, as if someone else posted it. They can do this before any 'ban' takes place and before any such diary is deleted. It would be nice if 'protection' existed from that kind of example making, but it doesn't, and it is also why dKos doesn't need that kind of protection. Precisely because ANYONE can post a diary on the Daily Kos, even Bill O'Reilly. I believe he probably has, because it is the kind of chickenshit thing he would do. Those who believe people like him do so at their peril.

But, there are opportunistic types who use other's diaries as examples. This wouldn't be a fool proof guard from that, but I think it would cut down on the most egregious offenders.

Some trolls might not want to risk being exposed by huge HR numbers. On a personal note, nothing pisses me off than an inflamatory diary written by some asshat who is too chickenshit to stay and defend his opinions.

I'm more likely to cut slack to someone who presents an unpopular position and then sticks around to defend themselves. I HR seldom, but sometimes...grrrr
