  •  We should no longer talk of preventing fascism ... (none)
But rather, of ending it. It's here, we're in it.

    Kerry Won

    Here's the facts.
    Thursday, November 4, 2004

I know you don't want to hear it. You can't face one more hung chad. But I don't have a choice. As a journalist examining that messy sausage called American democracy, it's my job to tell you who got the most votes in the deciding states. Tuesday, in Ohio and New Mexico, it was John Kerry.
Most voters in Ohio thought they were voting for Kerry. CNN's exit poll showed Kerry beating Bush among Ohio women by 53% to 47%. Kerry also defeated Bush among Ohio's male voters 51% to 49%. Unless a third gender voted in Ohio, Kerry took the state.
Get the full story in the next hour on A special Greg Palast invesigation.

Last night Mike Malloy, of Air America Radio, with all the passion in his heart, sneered at all the chatter over our regrouping tactics a la " We WILL win the next one!" Not to deride us, or even those tactics, but to get it through our thick skulls that first and foremost, we have to fix the FIX or everything else we do will be for naught. Like it is now.

FOCUS: on all the Banana Republic aspects of this election as if they matter! Hound the networks to give time to Palast. Use your sharp minds, talents, and deep passions to come up with ways to end this travesty.

There is not a reason in the world why we couldnt have had paper ballots like Venezuela did. How did we let this happen?

We were fucked with on November 2nd.

    Make no mistake.

    •  We need to 'Lakoff' ourselves, but ... (none)
I understand that we need to 'Lakoff' ourselves, meaning, come up with better messages about our values, etc, to woo more people to our side. And yes, we need to fight the dark forces spreading across this nation that Rove's trumpet called to the polls: Bush's bedrock, ie, Falwell's army of lunatic Endtimers. We need to reckon with the weight of the Christian Right that is oppressing us now ... along with all the other shit in the stew.

It's scary, it's effective, it's happening. It's a lot to deal with, and deal with it we must.

BUT, as Mike Malloy of Air America so eloquently and emphatically reiterated as his MAIN, ONE & ONLY MESSAGE last night, we MUST fight the three main corporations which include Diebold, which have taken over the computerized voting market, and which, unsurprisingly, have ties to the GOP, have an interest in keeping them in power. Malloy predicted that, if we carry on without SERIOUSLY defeating this electoral fraud, the Senate will be totally GOPped, ie, filibuster-proof, come the 2006 'elections'.

We must deal with the FACTS of widespread black and brown people (overwhelmingly Democrat) vote spoilage and suppression, with these computerized, ticket-less (BallotLESS) machines in Florida, New Mexico, Ohio and the very HINKY mismatch of exit polling to votes.

Why could Venezuela have ballots with their voting machines and not US?

Because, unlike Venezuela, we are no longer a democracy.

We were fucked with on Nov 2nd.

      First, fix the FIX!

      •  African-American voter suppression (none)
Where is the outrage among African-American leaders?

For example, Oprah did a show about the need to protect Roe v. Wade, but not disenfranchising African-American voters.
