  •  It has come home to me more than once lately (17+ / 0-)

    that if Paulson did indeed threaten Congress with martial law over Tarp, however slyly, it could not possibly have been his own idea and it probably would not have been the first time such a thing had happened.  

    It sounds right up Bush and Cheney's alley to have threatened Congress with anything and everything.  And they had control of the military, with its' fair share of wingnuts, and the entire Homeland Security apparatus.

    So, for the moment, I'm waiting to see what happens next.  I don't think it's an accident that prosecution of Bush administration evildoers is suddenly back on the table.

    I would suggest to the new administration that they make certain, absolutely certain, that Cheney is cut off from all shadow government access.

      that if Congress was threatened with martial law over TARP...

      that actually constitutes martial law.
