  •  I think you have it reversed (7+ / 0-)

you want to stick with the old cowboy mentality of the wild west -- go for it.

The cops were the ones dispensing cowboy justice. It happens all the time.

But this time there were videos they couldn't confiscate because the train left the station.

The crooks are leaving office, unprosecuted and scot-free.

    •  My point is, which is not popular, (14+ / 0-)

the most glaring evidence of a crime is still subject to the rule of law -- not mob rule.  If folks here want to make a determination of a degree of guilt based on videos, go for it -- and then agree to live with that type of precedent.

Everyone has a right to an emotional response to injustice -- but to determine something is "cold blooded murder" and should result in execution in Old Sparky is a "judgment" too far.

What I have read here suggests that some commenters believe that video evidence of a woman shooting her sleeping husband has no room for nuance -- i.e. temporary insanity brought on by years of abuse.  I have no information about this cop other than video that shows he shot a prone, subdued man.  Does that video tell me that the cop was a badly trained incompetent?  Mentally impaired?  No.  It does not.  There are specific legal defenses which are mitigating circumstances, like them or not.

It is ironic and disturbing to me that when someone raises the rule of law in this matter, accusations of supporting homicide arise.  That sounds very winger to me.  But, as I said -- carry on -- judge before the legal process has an opportunity to kick in.
