  •  True (0+ / 0-)

Love her or hate her she's going to be our Senator.

But, for two years. Nobody can change that.

How many Democratic Senators besides the asshole from CT have lost a primary election in the last few decades?

40% of Appointees win their first election. Nate Silver at 538.com has the data.

Personally I'm lying odds on the person who has the track record of fundraising and two years to introduce herself to the state.  She also has Schemer on her side.  Care to place a bet against the person who engineered the Democratic takeover of the Senate in 2006?

There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap box, ballot box, jury box and ammo box. Use in that order. (-1.75/-4.00)

And, he ran the same kind of campaign Gillibrand is running. That worked well for him.

        •  we shall see.... I hope we can trust you to suck (0+ / 0-)

it up and not stay home after she beats your candidate in the primary.

Unless you don't even live in NYS, in which case I don't really see what all the griping is about.

    •  that 40% is misleading (0+ / 0-)

It includes many who didn't seek a permanent term.  It's closer to 50%.

as opposed to the near 100% you tried to sell upthread. Go away Adam.

        •  the 40% is still misleading because I think even (0+ / 0-)

you would acknowledge that Gillibrand isn't likely to lose the general election to a Republican.  Her upstate roots and moderate leanings will preclude that.

Unless your statistic is that 40% of appointed Senators have gone on to lose primary elections it's just as meaningless as Adam's 100% statistic.

So tell me, how many appointed Senators have gone on to lose primary elections?
