  •  Grover Norquist: (9+ / 0-)

I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.

The whole quote is actually worse. He wants to drag it into the bathroom then drown it. Nice imagery, huh. Says a lot about his twisted and sadistic mindset.

Also says a lot about the kinds of people attracted to the Republican Party that would use the quote as if it were a positive thing.

I am a liberal - I question authority, ALL authority.

    •  There's an interesting thought... (4+ / 0-)

Maybe these people grew up abused and are now full of hate. They hate themselves and others so much they manifest horrible ideologies to punish themselves and everyone else.

Did Grover reproduce? If so, we need to stage an intervention for his kids.

Have you called John Cornyn today? 202-224-2934. Make sure to remind him about his pledge to stop petty partisan squabbling. -6.62 -6.62

    •  And what would he put in its place? (5+ / 0-)

It seems to me that it is pretty easy to drown or destroy something. It is much harder to build up something else to replace it.

Case in point: Ignoring our system of Justice and its attendant regulations at Guantanamo Bay. Now, it seems to have occured to some bright minds out there that there might be a good reason to have regulations in place safeguarding the collection and the storage of evidence in a criminal case. There might even be a good reason not to allow hearsay as evidence.

        of these same things.
like how they were trying to do away with/cut funding to NOAA because someone or some friend of someone wanted to make $$ on weather.com.

i'm sure you can come up with many more examples.
