    it can take 6-24 hours for symptoms to show up-depending on what bit you. In that time it may be hard to pinpoint what exactly you ate that made you sick.

      ...indigestion as such, and a bug.

      You can eat something for dinner that doesn't agree with you, and later that night or the next morning have a couple of episodes of diarrhea and even throw up once or twice, and that's merely a "mechanical" reaction to the food.

      It's when you have symptoms beyond that level of merely clearing a meal from the GI tract, that bacterial or viral causes become more likely. .
