doing political things is praised as "principled" whenever it happens to be Russ "Maverick" Feingold.

silly diary this morning on amending the constitution to require special elections to fill vacant Senate seats? Great idea in theory except for the long time the state would be unrepresented while a proper special election was held. Apparently, he has failed to notice that special elections to fill vacant House seats are often between two nominees selected by party machines and are hardly exercises in democracy. And of course there might be more pressing matters that are worthy of a constitutional amendment.

How exactly could this be political?  What, we in WI just luuuuurve him now, cuz he voted against Geithner?

Right.  Whatever and a load of crap to spare.

Anyone who knows Russ, listens to him, follows his votes, knows exactly why he voted the way he did.  And we also know it's 100% consistent with his stated opinion on Cabinet positions.
