  •  I think HRing the tip jar is... (4+ / 0-)

...only to be done in instances of trollishness, calling out a Kossack, or gross violation of community standards.  Simple disagreement with the diary is done with comments.  Just sayin'.

but I certainly won't argue as I don't particularly care about it that much and the users who informed me were probably mistaken. Obviously your explanation makes more sense.

With that being said, I'm going to stand by doc here on principle. If he thinks that the tone of the diary is disrespectful to one of our better-liked senators who visits the site with relative frequency, I think he should have the right to express it.

HRing is always a matter of judgment, and he has judged this diary to violate some of our standards of respect. Though I would not HR it myself, I understand where he is coming from.

      Meh...

      This diary smacks of trollishness.

      •  I don't think you know the diarist. (0+ / 0-)

He was here when you joined up but then disappeared for a while.  He's not a troll.  He's not being exactly gracious here, but he definitely is not a troll.

it's not even like he's going to lose TU status, it's just a few measly HR's.

Also, why do you have to be a "troll" to write trollish diaries or comments?

          •  Suit yourself. Throw pastries if you want. (0+ / 0-)

I simply don't like to see any variant on the word "troll" applied to respected Kossacks.

            •  in other words (0+ / 0-)

trolls are just people you don't like.

              •  Oh, jeez. (1+ / 0-)

Fine, I'll go into greater length.  There are plenty of Kossacks I "don't like," plenty more who are abusive in their tone, and as long as they follow the standards of the site, I don't consider them to be trolls.  Trolls disrupt for the sake of shutting down discussion.  Maybe that's not the best definition, but it's mine.  Okay?

I did not tip Psi Fighter's tip jar.  I didn't like what he did.  But I'll defend his right to do so, in part because he has earned enough respect to make me think his tone is something other than an attempt at disruption.

At the same time, I uprated doc2, because I thought he had a right to think otherwise than I did, and I thought the HRs thrown at him were (thus) undeserved.

Want to ascribe more opinions to me?
