Senator Feingold voting against Geithner heightens my respect for the Senator immensely.

Let me put this is simply as I can:

Geithner as SecTreas is a DISASTER.

In fact, almost the entirety of Obama's economic team are disasters.

And I've explained why, quite a few times, beginning with the day the appointments of Geithner and Summers were announced. Just search for diaries by me in the past quarter, and you'll find them.

Yeah, we're all willing to let President Obama have a chance to get his policies in place and in effect. But, everything I've seen - and I've watched this crap for nearly 30 years now - leads me to fear that not only are we not out of the woods, but we're going in even deeper. There is not going to be any attack on the power of Wall Street. There is not going to be any significant accountability for the nearly nine trillion dollars in loans, outright giveaways, and guarantees by the Treasury and the Fed. There is not going to be a large enough stimulus. There is not going to be a coherent national industrial plan to get our economy off of its base of burning fossil fuels. There is not going to be any meaningful shift away from the establishment consensus that has enshrined Chicago School "neo-liberal" economics for nearly half a century now.

I hope I will be proven wrong. But all I've seen and heard so far forces me to these conclusions. And I am glad that at least four Senators I count as on "our side" - Sanders, Harkin, Feingold, Byrd - apparently have the same uneasiness or forebodings I do.

And especially after watching a Republican controlled Congress rubber stamp everything Bush did from 2001 to 2007, I do NOT want to see Democrats rubber stamping everything President Obama does.

I am really quite dismayed and saddened by your diary, PsiFighter37, especially given its vitriol.

A conservative is a scab for the oligarchy.
