  •  Flying isn't a perk (6+ / 0-)

This downturn scaled my travel from a round trip every other week down to every 6 weeks.

    It's nice.

And I'm lucky.  It's just up and down the west coast.

If you have to do SF to Taiwan every 6 weeks, it's brutal.  Especially in coach.

Take away their corporate jets.  But unfortunately being a leader in a global company (or even one spread across multiple US states) means air travel.

Without air travel, our economy will get worse.

I fly regularly because of the job, with the policy that for flights over 3 hours we can travel business class.  However, that represents a minority of my travel, and even then, flying is a pain in the ass.

Mind you, we get the same attitude within our organization.  I used to hear many comments within my office from people who thought it was so lucky that I was able to attend conferences.  Practically a paid vacation, they thought.  Until they were able to go to the same conferences as well when we expanded our presence and now many of them will use any excuse not to go.
