are all identical problems in the long run, but no one is even thinking about overpopulation out loud. I think you can kiss it all goodbye, Obama or no Obama.

        •  rodents, perhaps (0+ / 0-)

I think it was Stephen Baxter wrote a book awhile back that comprised vignettes of evolutionary history, extended theoretically into the future. He had us wind up as devolved humans enslaved by our now highly evolved rodent masters. His thesis was I think in part based on the idea that it seems unlikely that primates, not rodents, evolved to become the dominant race on the planet, considering the superior survival mechanisms of rodents.

    •  agree that overpop is undersold, but (0+ / 0-)

disagree with your prognosis.  IF we act now and fast.

      •  That's the eternal IF (0+ / 0-)

but, like I said, no one is even talking about it. Obama is willing to remove the gag rule from family planning assistance, but I don't see anyone in power willing to formally link overpopulation with resource shortages, falling wages, and climate change. That's not a signal that anyone is going to "act now and fast."
