  •  President is last priority, not first (none)
First priority is building a message machine that can establish a basic game plan for winning state legislatures all across the country. That's what the RNC has done over the past decades. I guarantee that if you compare a legislative race in North Carolina with one in Oregon, the two GOP candidates are going to be virtually interchangeable, while the Dems will have vastly different messages. And this is why the GOP is so goddam effective--because you say "Republican" and people say "low taxes, strong military, family values." Then you say "Democrat" and people say "well, what do they want this year?"

We have to get to the point where "Democrat" means "strong communities, good jobs, and strong values." And the only way we can do that is by devoting a TON of resources to elections at the state level. All this GOTV effort must be redirected at the state level, because that's where we (re)establish our party identity. But if we have no identity, then it doesn't matter who we nominate because he or she will just fall into the great morass of Democratic uncertainty.
