When the CIA was doing a lot of its dastardly deeds in the 60s and 70s it turns out that many of their new recruits were NFL rejects.  I wonder why.

in an anti-torture forum at my congregation, and there was a guy there who is a defense attorney.  Apparently, he runs into a lot of situations where inappropriate/torture style methods are used.

Also, we've been having a lot of problems with conditions in the Harris County Jail.  Our new sheriff says he'll do something about it.

There is a humanities professor, I think at UT Austin, Paul Woodruff.  He has a book called "Reverence" but actually, he is a most excellent speaker and anyone who has a chance should see him.

He remarked at a talk I heard that one measure of a society (or person) is how they treat prisoners.  It is because they have power over the powerless, that they should exercise restraint.
