Which is my theory on why his favorables are so high.

Ask the average Floridian - heck, even the fairly political Floridian - about Charlie Christ and they're more likely to know the particular shade or orange he is than whether he's a Republican or a Democrat, let alone able to list his positions or gubernatorial achievements.

So, really Crist's favorables could drop quite significantly if he's forced to do...well, anything, really.

that taking of funds from Florida Forever.

But you are right, he has been Governor Invisible with the only press being about his marriage.

pour money into the Senate race and run a smart campaign, we can win against Crist.  He won't hold up under pressure.  The state government is a mess, and he's been MIA as the GOP legislature stumbles from one useless solution to another.  Floridians are angry and they need help connecting the dots to understand (yes, we're a little slow down here) who's responsible for our disastrous economy.

And what did Crist do in the Schiavo case?

    •  When you dig deeper into Crist.... (4+ / 0-)

....He's no friend of Progressives.  He appoints right wing judges, he campaigns vigorously for McCain and stands there while McCain slams Obama's patriotism, and he's made all the wrong moves with the Florida Property Insurance mess.

The problem in Florida is that the Democratic Party never had a state-wide popular figure to follow in the footsteps of Lawton Chiles and run for governor.

I just mean that Crist is, as Inspector Javert notes, Governor Invisible. With him as our Governor, Floridians seem to care as much about him as they did their HS Student Council President.

He's popular. But...for... ? Ask someone who likes him why they like him, and there isn't much of an answer to be found.
