Simply picking up our marbles and going home will absolutely create the collapse that the RW keeps warning about.  The Iraqi "government" is a house of cards that we are holding up at the moment, as is the Iraqi "Army."  Anyone who has served in uniform will tell you that it takes at least ten years to grow a good sergeant from scratch, and sergeants are the backbone of any military.  We never should have disbanded their armed forces to begin with...

No politician ever lost an election by underestimating the intelligence of the American public. PT Barnum, paraphrased...

for the last troops getting out who will probably be attacked as they go. Once our forces have weakened significantly in Iraq to the point that hostile groups can take vengeance easily, our people will be sitting ducks. That's why this has to be done carefully.

Right now is the worst of time for a quick and sudden withdraw....Why?..because Iraq has made too much gain to just risk it all with sudden-rapid withdraw.

This would be a stupid move by Obama because he could get major credit if Iraq becomes a viabrant arab democracy in the heart of the Arab world.
