  •  Politics is a game of chess... (0+ / 0-)

    ...not an arm-wrestling match.

And don't forget that political power is exercise as much outside the walls of the Capitol as within.

When you remember that the 'Pubs still control the Fourth Branch of Government (Corporate News Media) then the Dem's majority is Congress doesn't seem so all-powerful.

George Will played his part masterfully on ABC Sunday, stating that Obama has squandered his his 80% public approval by turning his recovery program over to a Democratic Congress with a meager 20% public approval.

He went on to say that the Dems have put together a bill so bad that "Not one Republican could vote for it!"

    ...excuse me while I retch...

Even now, wingnuts back in the Congressional home districts are regurgitating Mr. Will's spin in outraged letters to the editor of their hometown newspapers.

This is a democracy. We want our representatives in Congress to be highly sensitive to public opinion, don't we?

We also want them to demonstrate some courage in the face of right-wing bluff and bluster. That ain't gonna happen unless we too are making noise back in the home districts as well.

The grassroots effort did not end on the first Tuesday in November.
