  •  Didn't you hear? We need to have a bipartisan (13+ / 0-)

unity love-in for the stimulus to be a success.

That apparently is the driving motivation in both branches of government.

    •  Only on Democratic issues. On Republican issues (5+ / 0-)

it's only Republican plans that matter. Remember Hastret's "majority of the majority" rule for pushing legislation?

Though the nation crumble, let it never be said the Democrats acted forcibly in the nation's interest.

Until we break the corporate virtual monopoly on what we hear and see, we keep losing, don't matter what we do.

    •  Making it Bi-partisan lowers the political risk (0+ / 0-)

It is by no means certain that this Stimulus Plan (or any other) will work.

Also spending that much money so quickly will have its own horror stories and outrages along the way.

While interest rates are very low for the Treasury, rates are high for companies, states and consumers. The massive increase in federal debt may have very bad effects in crowding out companies from capital markets making things work forcing companies to scale back in jobs or even failing.

Remember there are no real experts who actually know for a fact on what needs to be done in this situation - as this is a very special situation.

The most important way to protect the environment is not to have more than one child.

The Republicans will demand a bill that reflects their shitty ideas in order to sign on.

So, the options really are to have a Democratic plan or take our chances with no plan at all and blame it on the Republicans.
