Democrat . . . a very Blue Dog Democrat. Saturday night I was at a dinner featuring him. Here is what Cong. Bill Foster had to say:

WE have to tighten our belts until the National Debt is paid.

Corporations are really suffering now, and their CEO's are watching their life's work evaporate. Wall Street and Banks are barely surviving. [He expressed real angst over the banks and pared that with a Senior Citizen removing items from her cart in the checkout line. That would have gone over better if he hadn't read only the Senior Citizen part.]

Then, he proudly reclaimed the title of Blue Dog Democrat and stated that he thought holding the Liberals in check was just as important as dealing with Republicans.

He is taking his $8,000 pay increase, however. He let us know that this is a really tough job. Earlier that day he had to listen to 6 hours of citizens complaining about one damn thing or another.

    President Obama deserves our best. That includes a few Kossacks. . . . waiting, . . . waiting, . . . waiting . . .

    •  How freaking tough could it be? (5+ / 0-)

Do any of these jerks know what real work is like? Make me a Congressperson, and I can do it for half of the salary, and I can do a better job at it too. I know how to tighten my belt and live on a budget, I have been doing it all my life.

that truly doesn't realize how out-of-touch they reveal themselves to be every time they open their mouths.  Unfortunately, they ahve succeeded in completely monopolizing the levers of political power, including managing to astroturf a phony form of "participation" in political campaigns that only serves to co-opt and recoup the citizenry back into reinforcing the ruling class.

Sooner or later that contradiction is gong to burst though, and it will not be pretty.  it may not end up even being better for the citizens, as the ruling class response to a genuine challenge could be a crackdown of Orwellian proportion.  But the absolute bullshit that's  prevailing now cannot be sustained indefinitely in times of economic dislocation.
