    So if you have a boy who wants to be involved in 'Scouting' you don't have a choice....

    That Congressional Charter is a license for a monopoly.  BSA even fought GIrl Scouts at first for using 'Scouts' when they were founded.

    Other nations have more than one type of Scouting - and before the Congressional Charter was issued there were competing organizations in the US.

    BSA fights like a rabid dog to hold onto that monopoly - if they had any real competition, they'd be gone in a decade, even with all the inherent advantages they have in existing facilities.
