    for many of the reasons you point out.

    For me it is not a question of her finances or her marital status.  I was counseled on the high risk of transferring more than 2 embryos and in fact our endocrinologist said he wouldn't.  In my recent reading on the Octuplet story, I have discovered that the national organization for reproductive endocrinologists stipulates that you can counsel patients, but not make the decision of how many embryos your patient transfers.  This would seem to remove some responsibility from the doctor involved.  However, considering the risks both to herself and her future children, I consider the decision to transfer as many embryos as she did unethical.  It could have been less than 8, we don't know the number.

    I think we really don't have enough information about anything else in the story.  Her mother is spinning her to be an inconsiderate, looneytunes.  But that may be the result of media inundation.
