What happens if you have twins -- naturally, not artificially? Not totally uncommon, even without fertility treatments, especially if there's a family history of twins.

expatjourno, crose sign an affadavit to the effect that there were no fertility drugs or treatments involved, and you get the same treatment as if you had two, which is: no tax credit but no extra tax either.

And if it's found that you did in fact take fertility drugs, but you signed an affadavit that you didn't, then that's felony tax evasion.

FYI, since you & I see each other regularly around sustainability diaries, one of my principles is that we have a collective obligation to the life of every living person.  Once a person exists in this world, we have an obligation to them.  Reckless reproduction is immoral because it forces an obligation onto society at-large, which, in an ecological crisis, cannot be met.  This puts the entire society in the position of being forced to commit manslaughter by default.

By analogy, as if you were on a lifeboat and I kept dropping people from a helicopter into your lifeboat.  At some point there is no more room in the lifeboat, and in order to save the lives of those onboard, you would be forced to let some of the new arrivals drown.  While the ultimate cause was my behavior of dropping more people into the water, I'm in a helicopter so you can't catch me.

Same case for conspicuous consumption: it uses up resources and increases the scope of the manslaughter.  By analogy if I was also shooting out parts of your lifeboat for thrills, thereby reducing the number of people who could be accommodated.

the infertile.  Sometimes even the most responsible fertility treatments can result in twins or triplets.

You can still have all the children you like by adoption.  The only difference is that they're not your genes.  What's so special about your genes?

Are you claiming that you have a right to put your desire to propagate your own genes, before the safety & wellbeing of everyone else on the planet?

Adoption is much harder, much more expensive, and much more difficult than fertility treatments.  I would gladly adopt if I were financially able to.  I am not.  Do a little research before passing judgement on issues you know nothing about and before insulting people who are already struggling.  And how does my desire to have children endanger the safety and wellbeing of rest of the planet?
