    •  Frankly, I don't think we want him. If we'd had a (8+ / 0-)

better candidate we might have pulled that one off.

    •  Lunsford a bad candidate... (5+ / 0-)

...there's some annoying issues (not scandals per say, if only because you hear a lot of conflicting stuff) regarding the company he ran in Kentucky.  And Dems dislike him for disprupting the 2003 KY Democratic Gov primary, dropping out, then endorsing Republican Ernie Fletcher (Lunsford has since apologized but he didn't really have a choice if he wanted to run as a Dem).  If he wasn't the only candidate running against Mitch I don't think he'd have gotten the support he did.

He was crammed down our throats by the Schumer DSCC, who wanted someone wealthy who could pay for ads and twist other wealthy arms for donations.

He had linked arms with McConnell earlier, when the two of them went around Kentucky backing Ernie Fletcher for Gov (against Chandler).

He had recognition, but when the ugly ads got to flying, he was one of the few guaranteed to bite the dust.

It's too bad that Andrew Horne, who got shoved out of the Senate race, isn't in the list.  Mongiardo already lost to Bunning once.

Crit Luallen with enough money behind her would be hard to beat.  Conway is soooo youngish, but again with the right support he could do well, it's just hard to say how much of a street fighter and how savvy he is.
