Perfect example of why this bill will be defeated.  Even the parts that are actually stimulus related are flawed.  In Milwaukee, there is excess capacity to the tune of 15 vacant school buildings, with occupied buildings receiving high grades with no need for refurbishment.  Yet the bill includes $88 million dollars in new infrastructure spending for Milwaukee Public Schools?  Way to go, Obey.  Or should I call you pork chop.

Obama, your bombing.  Business as usual.  Nothing to see here, move along.

And kids, remember, you only have until April 15th to get your tax forms done!

    •  If you are going to tell the President (0+ / 0-)

he is "bombing", you should at least use correct grammar.  It is you're  not "your".

is of course unsupported by data. And carping over a tiny percentage of an 800 billion bill is typical shortsightedness that prevents progress.

Argue about a leaf when the forest is on fire? The public supports Obama, or have you not read this post?

...which is the point.  And frankly, I don't care if the public supports Obama on this one, he didn't even write or help craft the bill in anyway.  Furthermore, the vast majority of the public hasn't even bothered to research what's in the damn bill in the first place.  Obama is just living off coronation adulation.

The bloom is coming off this rose quick, don't you think?

It is also:  training for teachers on the best practices for teaching all subjects, textbooks, computers (are all of yours newer than 2 years old?), phone systems that actually work, notification systems for parents (text, email, phone, etc), energy efficient heating systems, new energy efficient lighting, lighting that is energy efficient, better insulation, equipment for maintenance, simple maintenance of existing structures (sorely neglected in most school systems).......

Hmmmm. And what should I call you? RedNeck?

So the Stimulus Bill is a failure because 0.01% of it may be spent unwisely? Then again, as infrastructure also includes items such as: High-Speed Internet; SmartBoards; Laptops; TextBooks; and Energy Efficiency Upgrades (heating\cooling and, yes, light bulbs), one can conclude that you are not only sorely lacking in commonsense, but are also the ultimate picker of nits.

BTW, I guess you didn't check out the latest Gallop Poll which indicates that the majority of Americans are still on his side. So, perhaps, its you who are bombing. Thankfully, this bomb of yours is a massive dud.

Hard to be a redneck when you're orig. from NNJ, live in the bastion of American Socialism (Wisconsin), and...a Democrat.  But I guess it's possible.

Impressive as your rudimentary math skills are, I think you miss my point.  The Milwaukee example is, well...an example.  You can pick your own nits by reading the bill.  Once you have your pile of nits, please come back to us with your final % total, would you?

I will NOT support this bill just because Obama is popular and he says I have to.  It sucks!  Bottom line!

after it passes. In the meantime, the Senate can still remove some of the dumber stuff.

This is not the change I signed up for.

            Politics as usual!

            •  Aim your venom at the Dems who crafted the bill, (0+ / 0-)

commonsensemaker. I have read the first draft of the Bill - available at the time on Huffpost.  It is all over the place with pet Dem projects and reads like something a kid would have to write as a class project and completed the night before.

The Dems and the President need to learn how to write legislation which can't offer up a damned thing for the Rethugs to cherry pick.

The health care issues need to be consolidated into a 'Health Care Stimulus Bill' and pushed through with rabid partisanship.

We won.  The Dems haven't gotten this yet.  Old habits die hard.

              •  Agreed... (0+ / 0-)

...and very well said.  Now it's time to walk the walk!

(and funny how your "night before" analogy took me back to High School - a couple decades ago - and the feeling I had that I was going to get "found out."  I'm guessing Obey has that same knot in his stomach right now!)

                •  'Well said', maybe, but I do object to trashing (0+ / 0-)

                  President Obama, commonsensemaker.

"It's the Economy, Stupid" was the Clinton silver bullet and won the election for him.  President Obama has more issues on his agenda than needing to edit and correct a badly written bill by Dems who have either forgotten how to do it or didn't know how to in the first place. He is defending something which he most likely doesn't completely support himself.

President Obama is a talented writer and orator and what I read in the draft was an editorial nightmare.

I am horrifed by what I see and hear and read about the process which is now in place in the Senate and House.  This is about years of tyranny by Bush/Cheney, apathy and in many cases, pure greed.

It is obvious from the Rethugs who are out there groping the media that the only thing on their minds is keeping their jobs.

                  •  Just callin' 'em... (0+ / 0-)

as I see's 'em.  This is but a modicum of the trashing I threw Bush/Cheney.

This was the President's moment to shine and instead he got run over.  I'm as disappointed as you are, but I'm not about to blame it on tyrannical years.  This was a chance to change course and so far, failure.

                    •  OK, then, commonsensemaker, lets see... (0+ / 0-)

eight long years of Bush/Cheney to include a president who could not string five words together and so inept at verbalizing anything more complicated than his lunch order that there is an entire website devoted to his Bushisms (dubyaspeak.com).  Late night comedians, SNL and even MSM and cable got laughs at our commander in chief's verbal idiocy.

Now, we've got a guy who can walk, talk and chew gum at the same time up at bat for his first duel with one of the issues facing the country.  He's handed a bastardized bill which gave Rethugs a nice clean target and the Dems sat silent and let him run with the ball.

                      President Obama's failure, commonsensemaker? No.

    •  Questions (0+ / 0-)
      1. How does a specific project (infrastructure spending for Milwaukee schools) get into a bill that has now earmarks? My understanding is that the spending provisions are amounts for types of projects, but not for specific projects. Is this $88 million just a number calculated by dividing the total money for school improvements by the number of schools in the country and then multiplying by the number of schools in Milwaukee?
      1. Even if Milwaukee has to many schools that does not mean that the schools they do have don't need improvements. Older schools need refurbishing. Wiring, for things like computers, need improving.

Be careful you don't become a conduit for GOP spin.
