and I am as eager as anyone to see research on stem cells, embryonic or otherwise, resume at the full speed that responsible researchers can muster, but I am perfectly willing to wait a few more weeks for the legal restrictions to be lifted while President Obama's attention is momentarily diverted by the economy and the wars.

I'm sure every researcher out there knows that change is coming and is already making experiments "shovel ready" for the day that the ban is lifted.

If my students can't explain it, they don't understand it.

for a stem cell lab at Harvard.

But even last year I was at an NIH meeting where the scientists were standing with their shovels and talking about how to proceed.  The grant administrator said he couldn't even have this conversation until Jan. 21.  But they were definitely ready with the plan in place.

      for 10 years already.

Every day we wait another 4,000 people die who might have been saved through stem cell research.

Quite generous for you to be willing to wait!
