  •  Points to ponder as I look at the images... (5+ / 0-)

Fat white men in charge of women picking potatos, black men sitting on the steps...beyond the platation days...but not far removed.  The same pattern dressed in different clothing...being "in charge" of labor forces to being "in charge" of investments, "in charge" of corporations...all with the "peons" below doing the "work"...

The repug party seems to reflect the same outlook of many years ago...and reflect the same misguided assumptions of "entitlement" as the plantation owners of years gone by.

They are typified by the young aspiring wannabes who
became part of the herd of "Vice Presidents" of large banks (image) with good starting salaries who were often let go when they had reached their potential usefulness to the CEOs.  Get an MBA and start at the top.

No wonder we are on the verge of collapse.  Labor is no longer valued...that can be done by machines...only the ones in charge are of any value according to the repug attitudes.

The photos bring back a sense of reality...a real contact with the environment we are destroying so that we can stay within our air-conditioned buildings with our artificial light, commanding our minions so that we can fly to Washington in our corporate jets to ask for money to save our companies from the ecomonic crisis we are creating for the masses while we line our pockets with unseen profits.

That southern pic, not far removed from plantation days?  That white guy sure as shooting is a Democrat, the old Dixiecrat-style Dem that Strom Thurmond and Jess Helms used to be.  The Republicans took up that mantle after Civil Rights, and with the help of "Tricky Dick" Nixon and his cynical crew.  Which, don't forget, included Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.

I skipped over the switch-over of guard after Civil Rights...I think what has been consistent is the attitudes of superiority and entitlement that belonged to both eras and has been consistently passed down by those who have a strong desire for power.  That attitude is now characteristic of the current Republican party.  (Lincoln was a Republican...even Strom switched from Democrat to Republican during the changing of the guard!)
