  •  This is a really wonderful series (3+ / 0-)

It's really good to be reminded about the dignity of work. I come from a blue collar family but now work in a white collar world - sometimes I get discouraged by the attitude of co-workers toward labor. These diaries and others like emptywheel's diary about the union workers who participated in the "Miracle on the Hudson" give me examples to slip into conversations to take the edge off some of the disparagement that comes up.

bit the dust...as in Duke Power (i.e. Duke Energy) under the "leadership" of R. Shaw...who dismantled the retirement program for the Duke Energy employees according to their firsthand reports.  (She was also reportedly investigated during the Enron/Energy fiasco but "cleared.")

The Repugs have been busy for many years trying to dismantle protective regulations for the labor force.
