    I mean, Jerry Brown versus Dianne Feinstein?

    Of course, between the two put me down for Gov. Moonbeam. Especially after the business with Panetta I hope he demolishes her in the primary, which he actually could conceivably do just by running on all the things she's done to undermine Obama. I know Feinstein at this point is the stronger brand, but consider:

    (1) she doesn't connect well, and has never had the best television presence;

    (2) she's gone without a serious challenge for a while now (Huffington was '94) and so her skills may not be up to snuff in a dogfight;

    (3) like Lieberman she's never faced a serious opponent from the left, and that may wrongfoot her since her whole record is about sticking far enough to the right that she doesn't risk serious Republican opposition;

    (4) scratch the surface and her track record is not that good far as blue a state as California, losing to Pete Wilson in '90 and almost getting defeated in '94.

    I mean, I'm still thinking she has the better chance of winning, but a Brown upset sure would be sweet.

    Of course then we'd have to put up with her staying in the Senate for at least two more years.

    •  Which is why lots of us (0+ / 0-)

      are giving John Garamendi a close look.  I've met the guy and he's smart as hell and a smooth campaigner.
