...against the separate bill she's now calling for. Bank on it. There'll be something else she doesn't like in it that will be the pretext then, and McConnell will point it out to her -- because otherwise she couldn't find it.

She's done stuff like this before. It's part of a little game she -- actually her staff, since she's too damn stupid to work it out on her own -- has going up here to preserve her 'bipartisan', 'moderate' image.

Maine is besotted with the idea of immaculate, transcendent, non-partisan government -- politics without politicians. How many other states have elected two independent governors in the last twenty-five years?

Part of Collins' appeal is that she appears to not be a politician. (Now to me, she appears to be a popularity-besotted fourteen-year-old, but to some people, that's the same thing.) Stunts like this -- and this is a stunt -- are designed to reinforce that perception.

This state didn't deserve George Mitchell when it had him. It didn't send Joe Brennan to the Senate when it could -- thanks to Rensenbrink and the Greens, more no-politics politics. And with help from 20-25% of Democratic women voters, it keeps getting Collins.

      that just so damn phony.

She's a republican through and through, her thoghtful, deliberate style of speaking is incredibly annoying and if you listen carefully to what she says it reveals that there is not much "there" there, if anything at all. She's all form over substance.

Susan Collins is looking out for Susan Collins.

All I can say, DXM, is that you nail Collins. Brilliant.

that's the right word to describe all of this crap.
