    If you got popped for dope, there was one lawyer in town to go see.  You gave him $1500 (circa 1971), he split it with the judge, and your case was dismissed with prejudice on a technicality.  Those who didn't pay, went to jail (and it used to be BIG time).

    Poof!  Never happened.  (I never used this, but many of my high school friends did).

    Look at child abuse cases nationwide on an income basis.  Poverty level or below represents the largest number of convictions by far, even though original investigations are evenly distributed throughout the income levels.  The more money you make, the less likely you are to be convicted for child abuse.  It's just the way it is.
