    and if it is a similar group from Pew poll to Pew poll, the numbers show a slight decline with an internal control. Adjusting everything to an ideal poulation isn't always relevant... it's 'all adults' vs 'registered voters' vs 'likely voters' all over again (which one is the ideal?), and arguing that things should be weighted/adjusted vs unweighted is an eternal exericise with no resolution.

      I just think it's an interesting thought that had the sample reflected the actual range of household income levels the support for the bill would have been even higher.

      You are right about too many permutations - this little discussion thread has been looking at household income, which is different from family income, or individuals at various incomes....  Then one can parse over the balance of age groups (younger folks being more supportive - did they undersample those, f'rinstance?) or maybe it would be interesting to look at various parts of the country - any correlation to unemployment rates? Some of us get off into bean counting fantasies.

        i just shy away from adjusting the numbers to what they 'really 'say when that may not be more accurate than the original (and you point out some excellent reasons why).
