  •  That is the really scary part (none)
The idea that ANY MEANS is justified, no matter how terrible or brutal, as long as we are even marginally more secure.

Nov. 2: Man #1: Those votes just disappeared! Man #2: Of course not. What do you think they are? 400 tons of explosives?

    •  Listen to this (none)
Me and my dad were talking about how Bush is creating more terrorists in Iraq from our policies.  I brought up Abu Ghraib as an example, and my dad says he is "glad" we did that stuff to them.  If he's thinking this way, others are too.  Really sad.
      •  Hmm... values... (none)
So these are the values that middle-America voted for: picking on the citizens of a weakened nation that had nothing to do with 9/11.

Makes me think of a quote from Blazing Saddles:

"You've got to remember, that these are just simple farmers, these are people of the land, the common clay of the new west. You know . . . morons."
    •  Exactly (none)
The guy is just a damn old curmudgeon who's probably never met a Muslim in his life.  He votes, though.  His late wife was one of the sweetest ladies you'd ever meet, but as for him, he's insufferable and I hope I never have to talk to him again.

      We must cultivate our garden.

    •  Very Scary (none)
Actually the more brutal and terrible the means the more popular it seems.
