    Hospitals and treatment was in violation of the civil rights of the mentally ill. We needed to honor their right to be homeless.  We were enabling them!!!!!!

      He also made an alliance with religious righters who think it's demon possession, not mental illness. Reagan didn't like paying for treatment. The wing-nuttians question the whole premise. A match made in hell. The point allegedly was to go in for community-based services, but of course those never materialized. It would have caused money! And ignored that whole demon possession thing!

        This thinking takes us back hundreds of years and Jesus never mentions witches.  I am afraid there is a growing American Taliban rising in the shadows of government.  Scary.
