Really, people just want to see their President trying to fix the mess. Bush never did this - he was incapable of caring enough to try and explain anything to the masses. Obama will try and he will win some and he will lose some. And he will admit when something doesn't work - which the GOP will see as a small victory when it happens, but the vast majority of the public will embrace the truthfulness and humility.

The GOP really is in a world of trouble. In the echo chambers manned by Limbaugh et al, they are completely divorced from reality. They are just so out of tune with how 80% of the country thinks that they are incapable of formulating a winning strategy. They are putting the GOP in a hole that it will never be able to get out of.

This is all win-win for us. Obama tried to drag the GOP into the light and they foolishly shunned the olive branch. It is a gift for us that the GOP chose to act this way.

Where they could play their little games.  These tactics, then as now, had an ultimate goal of of obstructing any semblance of a progressive agenda.  They genuinely believe another 1994 is around the corner, if they could just ride out this bad patch.

They had/have allies in the form of generous funding from ideologues and zealots like Richard Mellon Scaife, and the traditional media (guided by profits, cowardice, and disdain for the great unwashed rabble).

Well guess what?  We are on to you.  Your ideology is bankrupt, and memories aren't as malleable in the YouTube era.
