    So very hard to do. We'll never be able to assure truly equitable land or wealth distribution, or eliminate starvation and racism.

    And how much of that was the US' responsibility before he was in power anyway? How much of it is our job now?

    Meh. I agree with you, I'm just in a cynical mood today.

      If the British want to send another expeditionary force to screw up Africa some more, they can be our guest. Just don't get us involved.

      in the history of Mugabe coming to power. Zimbabwe (the former Rhodesia) was a British colony and the British; it was the British that created the unequal distribution of land and other problems that have laid the basis for many of Zimbabwe's problems. This is not to deny that Mugabe has clearly made a number of problems and mistakes and should be out of power.

      No society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable (Adam Smith, 1776, I, p. 96).
