I look to Krugman for his subject-matter expertise, not because I think he's god, because I'm not knowledgeable enough to have independent opinions on many of these matters. There have only been a few public economists whose views seem to have stood the test over the past 10 years. I've been reading Krugman, Dean Baker and Nouriel Roubini for some years now, and this is how I form my own views. Differences of opinion on economic matters between Krugman and Obama are really between Krugman and Obama's advisers - whom I don't trust, since they don't seem to me to have repudiated the beliefs that have led us to where we are.

I don't know how else I could look at these issues. 95% of what I've heard from economists in the past 25 years has been seriously wrong. Of course, I'm going to go with the ones who have been right.
