It'll be interesting to see whether she decides to run for re-election.

In Michigan there are three ways to get on the ballot for a Supreme Court seat: (1) be nominated by a political party (even though the election is non-partisan; go figure); (2) if you are an incumbent, file an affidavit of candidacy for re-election; or (3) get enough petition signatures to get on the ballot.

lets assume for the moment that Weaver wants to run for re-election.  I don't imagine at all that the R's will renominate her.

Might we see the Dems endorse her, and not run a candidate?

That might mean that she won't run for another term. I don't think she's bumping against the mandatory retirement age (you can't start a new term after that age).

I don't think the Dems would endorse her, but they might run a sacrificial candidate who could later get a seat on, say, the Court of Appeals, since the governor is a Democrat.

Here's a link to her very interesting website: http://www.justiceweaver.com
