Mars is the name of the family which owns the Mars Candy Co. - not the town which makes it.  There most certainly IS a Mars, Pennsylvania (located north of Pittsburgh), but no Mars Candy products have ever been produced there.

The Mars Candy Co. is HQ'ed in McLean, VA with most of its manufacturing done in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

Hersheys is still in Hershey, PA.

I love the "Special Dark" Hershey bars, but I'm not buying even one of them which was produced in Mexico.

in the marketplace, there is no reason to settle for Hersheys. If you're going to treat yourself, spend just a tad more and get Lindt or Ghirardelli.

But don't forget that most men without property would rather protect the possibility of becoming rich, than face the reality of being poor. (1776)

and it's made by M&M Mars. I find Hershey's dark chocolate too waxy.

    •  Thanks celtic. [nonetheless, American icons] (0+ / 0-)

and I fully agree w/ other commenters that for those with funds, other products taste better.

But sometimes I just wish for a little more belt-tightening at the top echelon of some companies, to help sustain the bottom line so our workers can get thru these troubled times...

We will restore science to its rightful place....We will harness the sun and the winds and the soil .... All this we can do. And all this we will do.

They think nothing of tossing hundreds of people out of work so that they can protect their fat paychecks.

Admin produces nothing.  They're pure overhead.  While they are certainly a necessary part of the business, they aren't the most important part (but don't tell them that).

A cut of 15 or 20% on the admin side could keep alot of people working, but since admin is making the decisions, they certainly aren't going to allow themselves to suffer a little bit so that others won't have to suffer a whole bunch.
