    I would recommend you watch your out of pocket though.

    The final bill is from the Hospital. $576.14 is what they think you still owe. You don't owe any medical bills to your insurance company (just any part of the premium that you pay.) You pay for medical services only to the service provider.

    Now back to the "deductible" and "out of pocket" expenses...
    These are often not so simple. With my insurance I have co-pays and they are not considered part of my deductible or my maximum out of pocket expense. There are often some type of expenses you get stuck paying that don't count toward your deductible and may not count toward your maximum out of pocket amount either. It makes figuring out the total amount you should be paying that much harder. My guess it that hides some of their sloppy accounting too.
