of all ages of those who die with the flu?  It wouldn't be that hard, since with computers.

There has been a great injustice done to the poor on the tobacco taxes.  They have increased the tax on 'roll your own tobaccos' by 2400%.  They went from $1 a pound to $24 a pound.

It may not help as much as people think.  There will be more breakins to support their habit. More people will put their children or grandchildren on Schip and food stamps, whereas they paid for their food and health insurance, before.

When are they going to stop the insurance companies and health field from taking so much of the gdp?  I hear health care costs are going to double this year.

    •  Yep....It's the Most Regressive Tax in Existence. (1+ / 0-)

....and the party of "economic fairness" just increased that tax by 156% to finance a health care program expansion that generally benefits families that earn an average of 60% higher incomes than the families paying the taxes.  This isn't only wrong, it's an abomination worthy of the worst policies of the Bush administration.

the last I heard.  That is a lot of voters.

It is getting old to watch the Democrats pull stuff like this. It is like they want to help the republicans.

Why not tax the fat cat's cigars, yachts or expensive cars?

....substantially higher than cigarette taxes....as much as $10 per cigar.  The conventional wisdom is that the American cigar industry will shut down completely due to the megatax.

Still, low-income cigarette smokers will definitely the hardest hit.  Yet when this largely white working class demographic votes as Republican in 2010 and 2012 as it did back in 2000 and 2004, I'm sure those dumping massive regressive tax increases on them will wring their hands incessantly about "what's the matter with Kansas".

          •  You are right about the small cigar tax. (1+ / 0-)

Roll Your Own Tobacco went from $1.10/lb to  $24.78/lb.

Small Cigars went $0.04 a pack to $1.01/pack up 2,653%.

            Larger cigars went up 788%

Pipe tobacco, not so much.  Do you see poor people smoking pipes?

Here is a link to the Schip tax table.

....in American today.....those who smoke...and those who don't care about funding children's health care.  What a brave message from our lawmakers.

who try to save a penny by rolling their own.  The taxes are higher for them.

Many tobacco companies are closing down, April first, forever.

....all because a bunch of cowardly politicians are taking the path of least resistance on paying for SCHIP and kowtowing to the sanctimonious pricks who wish to micromanage everybody's lifestyle choices.
