  •  Serifs were a deliberate choice. (8+ / 0-)

Not necessarily something I'd explain well in words, but I deliberately went for that.  I wanted something Deco-looking.  Something that hinted at an earlier, happier time than the Depression.  That would have read that way then.  I went for the "outdated" slanted serifs for the same reason.

The color pix were more or less intentional, even if jarring in some places.  I really wanted the red of the molten metal, for example, and even sequenced to increase the red in each one.  The gold leading up to the "gold leaf facial" wouldn't have worked in B&W.  Some of 'em I cranked the saturation way down, like the crowd of workers near the end, which would have been OK to make into B&W, too.  Might have been smart to do that on more of the color pix.  Plus the color tells us that it's more recent, and I wanted that info embedded, too.

I get your point on the applause, and it would have been easy enough to take out.  But I also like the conceit of "putting hands together" simultaneously on the visual and the audio.  Maybe not super-smart, but that's my thinking.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.  Greatly appreciated.
