Now, it's time for the Republicans to get out of our way.

This whole post is correct, except that part about when it's time. It's been time for them to get out of the way, in terms of their de/merit in staying, for generations. But in terms of them actually getting out of the way, that won't be until 2011. After Americans have a chance to look at the extra time lost to Republican obstacles, when the 2010 elections change the 2011 Congress. If we remember - 2 years is going to be a long time from now.

And even then, it will matter only if "Blue Dog" (Republicans in Democratic clothing) Democrats are also shown to be in the way, under a different brand name. So far, I've seen nothing at all targeting those Blue Dogs for their free ride blocking the driver. Nothing like the "bipartisanship rope-a-dope" the Stimulus delivered. But until "Democrat" means "getting us out of the Conservative catastrophe, we're going to be stuck in it. If Blue Dogs start getting hounded this year, we'll have time to get them out of the way by 2011.

I saw Kos point to this story of how Jim Cooper was left out of the meeting with Obama's "Fiscal Responsibility Summit". Even though Cooper was "pushing for one in December". Evidently excluded because he was running his mouth about Blue Dogs' ability to swing the Stimulus one way or another, possibly voting with Republicans (in so many words).

If Obama has also started to grind down on Blue Dogs, which actually eliminates them from the essential Congressional calculus along with obstructionist Republicans, then change really has come to America.
