  •  I'm much less concerned about individual (6+ / 0-)

homeowners trying to scam the government to collect these kinds of benefits than I am worried that homeowners will be targets of predators actually performing the work.

What first came to my mind upon reading your comment was "Joe the Plumber".  Now, I'm not alleging that "Joe the Plumber" would personally perpetrate any fraud, but I can imagine there are a lot of small contractors with varying degrees of skills who will look for ways to cut corners by improperly installing equipment in order to save time (and money) or by substituting substandard equipment fraudulently labeled.

It's kind of like Medicare fraud.  Generally, it isn't the patients committing the fraud, it's the healthcare providers.

Which leads me to believe that we should listen to Republicans about the potential for fraud given that most of these kinds of crooks are drawn to Republican ideas.  You know, it takes one to know one.

scamming the government (although I guess that is what my original comment sounded like).

I guess I'm just generally concerned that all this stimulus money be spent legitimately.

Of course, there will be fraud and waste.  But I sure hope every effort is made to keep it to a minimum.  For the sake of the economy, taxpayers, and, frankly, Obama and the Democrats.
