  •  We have a pathetic Democratic Party in UT (4+ / 0-)

They seem incapable of offering a true alternative to the Rs. The only exception is SLC. Jennings would be a good candidate, but the party structure does little to support any candidate.

I don't see Dems making any gains until they start acting like something other than Republican lite. The times are changing yet they are always looking over their shoulders at past election cycles.

I saw this in the last election. A candidate running for State Senate told me that he was hoping to coast along under the radar so that no one noticed he was running. I had contributed and talked others into contributing. I stopped after that.

That's what he did. I didn't see a single sign until the week before election and he got a good percentage of votes in our County. Think of what he could have done if he had boldly asked for votes.

We need better leadership in our State party, we can turn the tide by being more vocal. It won't happen over night, but it will happen. As it is now, you get your choice of an actual Republican or a Democrat that votes like a Republican.

I was pretty disgusted in the way the Democratic Party ran the last election, the most favorable for Democrats in Utah in the last 20 years..  State Senate and Rep races were ignored, there were no rallies, no signs, no voter registration.  It is absolutely time the party started being more proactive and make a ten year plan to become relevant.
