i'm a liberal and you don't speak for me.

President obama has said consistently that he would leave a residual force in Iraq. To my knowledge, he's never mentioned any numbers regarding that.

He's doing exactly what he campaigned on, exactly what he said he'd do, exactly what we voted for him to do, and now, we're unhappy about that?

      i don't get it.

And if you disagree with this PAC or its formation you should start your own, "The liberals who want 50,000 troops in Iraq-PAC."

        I'm sure it'll be great!

        •  says you... (0+ / 0-)

maybe you have better intelligence than president obama? or maybe you think you know the situation on the ground better than the president?

or maybe you think obama doesn't really want to end the war he vociferously opposed?

is 50,000 more or less than the 130,000 we have there now? by my math, its SIGNIFICANTLY less which is in line with what he campaigned on and what we voted for.

          •  You're having an emotional reaction. (5+ / 0-)

I didn't vote for a king or an emperor. I voted for a politician and you must keep politicians in check, even the great ones.

This PAC will do just that to wayward democrats in the House and Senate.

            Have a good day.

            •  that's what worries me... (0+ / 0-)

This PAC will do just that to wayward democrats in the House and Senate.

when ideological purity becomes more important than growing the party and winning elections, we're following republicans down a dangerous path towards political impotence...

And will continue to be more so as more Americans wake up to the reality of a modern world where the planet's very existence is threatened without decisive action on climate change. A world where murder by spreadsheeters and cost plus contracters pay the puppets to dance in Washington DC. A world where Exxon Mobil has 40 (yes 40) separate front groups purporting to be thrird party organizations. We need to win the idealogical war, and I don't use that word lightly. Our future depends on it.

Now what is open for discussion is tactics. Obviously it does not behoove us to primary conservative democrats with pro-choice, gay marriage supporting, gun-control loving politicians. We must pick our spots and be pragmatic on what issues we put forward in certain districts. However Obama showed in 2008 that a progressive minded democrat (you can disagree with that statement, but even if you do I bet you would be hard pressed to find a more progressive president in the 20th century with the possible exception of FDR) can win in culturally conservitive hotbeds like Indiana and North Carolina.

If we are smart and pragmatic this can be a great thing for progressives (and more importantly America).

              •  Ideological purity (0+ / 0-)

is a canard used by people trying to quash dissent.

What this PAC is in aid of is a vigourous, and better funded, debate.

Conservative Dems who actually represent the makeup of their  districts are to be expected.

Conservative Dems who govern considerably to the right of their constituents-whether from ideology or coziness with a pet industry-should be held, oh, what's the word I'm looking for...

                Accountable.
                 Yep, that's the one.

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.

      •  If you define a "liberal," then I'm glad (0+ / 0-)

        I'm no "liberal."

Too bad you aren't a lefty, but are instead merely a "liberal."

It's "liberals" like you that have soured me on "liberalism."

Go back to your corporate media.  It's probably just about your speed.
