Edwards, it has been gradually more right wing!

When is the Obama administration going to balance NPR again?  It is deadly serious.  I stopped listening to public radio... it is full of crap... specially on Saturdays!

Make Bill MOyers to clean house on Public Radio. It is about time.

and This American Life.  It's my favorite day of the week.

If you've got time to comment here, you've got time to email a Letter to the Editor and counteract republican framing of issues. DO IT!

    •  Went to a Bob Edwards lecture (5+ / 0-)

several years ago, a few months after he got canned. The moment he opened his mouth, I realized how much I missed him as Morning Edition host. Inskeep & Montagne are pretty lame and I especially hated hearing Montagne gushing over George Bush all the time.

But radio choices are very limited in my little mountain valley so it's NPR or nothing. Just can't handle having the TV on in the morning, for some reason. And my local affiliate has some excellent people.

And I just love Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.

    •  I miss Bob Edwards (6+ / 0-)

We supported NPR and our local affiliate, WNYC, for two decades, but when they fired Bob Edwards (too old, as I recall -- they wanted to "freshen up" the program and promised a major revision "over the coming months"), we signed a petition promising that we would not contribute until they brought him back. We've kept to that promise.

As to changes in the program: I cringe with embarrassment at the inanity of the questions Inskeep and Montagne ask their subjects and the comments they make about the stories they cover. That never happened with Bob Edwards -- it's almost a daily occurrence with these too. Susan Stamberg is pretty much all they've got going for them. And, while Cokie has been full of crap for a long, long time, to my mind she now has become a kind of caricature of herself -- much as George Will, Charlie Rose and Ted Koppel did of themselves as years went by.

That we all -- every one us -- take ourselves seriously is not merely ridiculous. Dag Hammarskjöld
