  •  You must be joking? (0+ / 0-)

When was the last time Kerry or Kennedy flew on a commercial flight? And that is the short list.

All these guys are the same, both Republicans and Democrats...that is a big reason why this Country is in such a mess.

I just get sick of hearing one side take the high road on issues when it’s all a bunch of bunk.

Worse of all, the public eats it up....maybe we are all a bunch of lemmings.

    Let’s hope not.

    •  You live in California right? (0+ / 0-)

So you probably don't fly in and out of here all that often do you?  I have actually seen both Kennedy and Kerry on a plane before - on the shuttle as a matter of fact.  But here's an article documentating that Kennedy was flying commercial in 2004:

U.S. Sen. Edward M. "Ted" Kennedy said yesterday that he was stopped and questioned at airports on the East Coast five times in March because his name appeared on the government's secret "no-fly" list.

While he worked to clear himself, Kennedy kept having to wait in terminals at Reagan National, Boston's Logan International and at least one other airport, his staff said. All of the flights were on US Airways. When the senator checked in at the counter, airline employees told him they could not issue him a boarding pass because he appeared on the list. Kennedy was delayed until a supervisor could be summoned to identify him and give approval for him to board the plane.

And I don't know where you've been all these months, but Joe Biden took the train almost everyday for years and years - I've been on the same train as him before too - the trains don't have the elaborate security systems that the airports do either.

but since I'm home sick today I get to respond.  I never said he never used a commercial airline....but when was the last time you were in a private plane?

Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts was campaigning for Democrats in Colorado when he was informed, and he also canceled out and flew a commercial flight from Denver back to Washington. Incredibly, the day before, he was in a private plane that had to circle Omaha for two hours and then land with a damaged landing gear.

These guys are for themselves....and for us only when they need us to be elected and sometimes when in a fit of guilt they come out with something that is truly to our benefit.  But that is more of the exception than the rule...sadly.

When you see Members who are either too old or too sick to govern or hold a job in the marketplace you and I work in, you just get the feeling that they are only looking out for themselves and their power base...period.  For these guys who think they are so important and who cannot fly on a commercial airline like the rest of us or have the option to use a privagte jet...give me a break. ...  .. and then they come out shaking their fists at those bad corporate rulers (who are not so great either) for flying in on private planes themselves...Please give me a break...ok I got off subject here.

Look, this is a class society...just don't be fooled into thinking it's not by those who control the power structure.

        •  I never said that there were not distinctions (0+ / 0-)

of class in this equation.  I know they all get lots of priviledges that the rest of us don't - even when they fly commercial.  If you read the Washington Post article all the way through, you would have seen that Tom Ridge called Kennedy to apologize personally for the mistake - most people don't get off the no-fly list and the ones who do who aren't Senators or Congressmen don't receive personal calls from the Secretary of Homeland Security apologizing for the trouble they've caused.
