    researching and writing this series.  This is really is critically important to know, and it's a sad thing to read how resistant the companies were when their employees began to get sick and die.  I worked for a pharmaceutical company in a research facility in the late 60's.  I noted once how strange it seemed that "so many" people were dying of cancer.  I was sternly informed that the number of people with cancer was not unusually high at all.  That may very well be true but no one died of anything else, just cancer. I still think of that whenever I drive past the now empty facility.
