    that she's concerned about the impact on desert species there, since she authored some bill in the 1990s to protect wildlife in deserts (fragile regions, of course). It's a legitimate concern, but probably not enough to warrant blocking all development of solar sites.

    As others have noted already in the thread, the impacts of coal mining and oil pipelines is probably vastly more devastating to their respective regions than solar arrays would be to the desert. And when we weigh the global impacts, it's hard to justify her stance.

      She wants to close an area 1/4th the size of Death Valley National Park.  That is a massive blanket closure.  It is lunacy.  May I suggest she consider a smaller area?
