    You have to imagine yourself from the "original position," where you are basically looking at society from the ether. You have no idea what social position, wealth, status, native intelligence, that you'll be born into.

    So there's a chance you'll be born into a disadvantaged environment, and you could design a society to help ameliorate that problem.

    But wait! There's a chance you could be born into a privileged background, so any help to the former class might eat into your potential wealth.

    What do you do? =)

      economic issues.  It does not work so well for other, equally important to which political system succeeds: abortion, paternalistic laws (the problem of the consenting sub&dom or sadist&masochist), for example.
